(The journal prompt is at the end of this message.)
If you believe you have no worth, my heart goes out to you and hurts for you. 💔
I’ve been there, too. 💔 It’s painful.
I’ve had romantic relationships that diminished my self-worth and self-love. I’ve been in friendships that left me feeling like I couldn’t communicate my needs *because* my needs didn’t matter. In some relationships, I’ve felt that what I had to say didn’t matter *because* I didn’t matter.
I have moved through that pain and discovered that I *do* have value, and I *am* of worth!
What was the turning point for me? Self-compassion. 💛 Through self-compassion, I found ways to speak kindly to myself. I discovered talents and gifts that come naturally to me. I found what I can contribute to the world to make a difference.
If you take one thing from this post, let it be this:
YOU MATTER!
You ARE valuable. You DO have worth, more than you can measure. You ARE worthwhile, including your thoughts, ideas, insights, emotions, needs, etc.
JOURNAL PROMPT: Set a timer for 5 minutes. (It may feel like a long time… it will be worth it!) Make a list of every single kind aspect, characteristic, trait, etc about yourself. If you get stuck and need help thinking of things to list, ask yourself what your loved ones would say about you. If you are still stuck, call them and ask! Tell them you are working on an assignment from me and that you are supposed to list every single thing that is lovely about you, quirks and all! (Quirks make you extra special!)
Now you’re ready to grab your journal, take 5-10 minutes to reflect on the journal prompt, and then keep reflecting on this journal prompt each week.
